New model project engineering. -
Project Planning
• Designed and produced 4M (man, machine, material, method) planning of new models for production, conducting assembly part evaluation using 3D models in Siemens NX (Unigraphics of CAD/CAM/CAE software).
• Designed and manufactured jigs and gauges to facilitate assembly, investigation and resolution of problems before production commenced.
Process & Cost Improvement
• Proposed numerous initiatives to reduce production costs – for instance, managed a reduction in the length of bolts for trim, identifying the problem and potential opportunity for improvement, lobbying in-house management to consider my alternative solution, and working with designers and procurement on alternatives, with a subsequent 2/3 reduction in cost of this one component part.
• Successfully lobbied for switching brake oil sourcing from Japan to local, with a subsequent cost reduction.
• Drove through the move of an assembly line process from outsourced to in-house.
• Continuously monitored production line processes, adjusting equipment, eg the speed (Hz) of conveyor, positioning of sensors, and ram run speeds to synchronize with conveyors.
Project Management
• Promoted to manage final stage production for a completely new model while supervising and reporting on the other three production phases – chassis, engine and trim.
Team leadership
• Matrix managed a team of three project engineers.
