Study on Nutrients in Soil and Guava Leaves under Organic Farming and Conventional Agriculture
This study aimed at determining soil nutrient contents together with nutrient concentrations of guava leaf under organic and conventional farming systems for property nutrient management. Each forming system, two plots were selected, each plot, twenty plants were collected both soil and leaf following the standard method. The studies plots located in Nakhon Pathom province, on Damnoen Saduak soil series (plot Organic 1 and 2) Thon Buri series (plot Chemical 1) and BangLen series (plot Chemical 2). All plots were raised-bed plantation. The results revealed that soil nutrient contents of all plots, in most the cases, were in very high rates of soil evaluation. The exception ones were available phosphorus extractable magnesium and zinc of plot Organic 1 which classified into moderate, high and moderate rates, respectively. The organic plots had higher the organic matter than those found in the chemical plots. They had slightly acid whilst for the chemical plots-the moderately acid. Their electrical conductivity also lowered than those observed from the chemical plots.
Leaf nutrient concentrations, the chemical plots contained lower all trace elements together with potassium than the adequate ranges. Whist the nitrogen and magnesium were in adequate ranges. For the organic plots, the nitrogen and phosphorus contents were excess the adequate ranges, and the potassium were in adequate ranges. However, the concentration of the other elements varied among plots. Plot Organic 1 had only the zinc in adequate range. While the other elements were lower than adequate ranges. Plot Organic 2 had the calcium, manganese and iron in adequate ranges but the copper and lower the zinc than adequate range
